Reason No. 3 why Golden State Warriors should be title favorite: Defense

The Warriors’ defensive tenacity has helped them win multiple games. They have the No. 1 defensive in the NBA, and while they aren’t turnover-hawking players, they just contest and force difficult shots.

Former Defensive Player of the Year Draymond Green plays a huge role as the clear captain on that end of the court. The Warriors are the only team with a defensive rating under 100. They’re actually the only team with a rating of under 104 as well.

They hold opposing offenses to the second-lowest effective field goal rate. They just do it all on the defensive end, swarming opponents. It really has been a full team effort as well with even Kevon Looney having an impactful part on that end of the court.

The Warriors’ backcourt, one composed of Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole, have actually played at a high level defensively. This has been a key reason for the team’s success so far this season, and as long as they continue to play at this level, there’s no reason wins shouldn’t continue to flow in.

That said, from Phoenix to Chicago to Brooklyn, they’ve limited some of the best offenses in the league and that intensity should continue into the postseason.
