Reason No. 1 why Golden State Warriors should be title favorite: Ceiling

It’s almost impossible to foresee what’s going to happen to the Warriors in the next two months.

They’ll return both Wiseman and Thompson. The former is the team’s first-round pick (No. 2 overall) from the 2020 NBA Draft. Wiseman will offer rim protection and a lob option that the team currently doesn’t have.

Obviously, the bigger note is going to be Thompson’s return. The five-time All-Star guard averaged 20 points per game for five straight seasons and, on top of that, has shot over 40% from deep in each of his seasons in the league.

Adding that type of offensive firepower mixed with the return of Wiseman should only help the Warriors become an even more lethal side. Even tossing in the potential development of No. 7 overall pick Jonathan Kuminga could help strengthen their future outlook.

Put it all together, and the Warriors have a ceiling similar to the Dubs’ team that ruled over the league prior to the Kevin Durant signing years ago. This team looks that good, and there are obviously some key reasons why they should be seen as the best in the NBA.
