The Golden State Warriors‘ 107-112 loss to the San Antonio Spurs now puts them at 19-4. They now tie with the Phoenix Suns who have the same run so far in the season.
Considering the kind of basketball they played, their loss to the Spurs can be attributed to a rather weary squad. There’s no need to press the panic button or even so much as a glance in its direction. The Warriors have balled out this time quashing any doubts of a repeat of the dismal 2020-21 season.
The Warriors’ real challenge comes from the teams who are guaranteed playoff contenders, especially the ones that intend to finish the top three seeds.
Prior to Saturday’s loss, their defeats have come against Memphis, Charlotte, and Phoenix. Note that barring the Suns, the other three teams have just kept their head above the 0.500 mark (San Antonio is 0.381).
Their real challenge though comes from the teams who are surely playoff contenders, especially the ones that intend to finish the top three seeds. The Western Conference has two teams that will prove to be a handful for Stephen Curry and his troops, while there are a couple of sides on the other side that have dished out scintillating performances.
Barring Phoenix, who the Warriors have played twice and are set to play them again two more times, here are three teams who will be potential playoffs opponents, thereby making the regular season scrimmages all the more interesting.
