Golden State Warriors defense is worthy of betting on
It’s been a historic season for the Golden State Warriors defense.
They’re coming off yet another game in which they held their opponent under 95, limiting the Orlando Magic on Monday to just that amount. Golden State by far has the best defensive rating in the NBA, the only franchise to currently have a rating under 100.
The Golden State Warriors have rewarded those that have bet on their Under this season, and it’s because of their league-best defense.
As for their Unders, per teamrankings.com, they’re 7-16-1, meaning their total has gone Under in 16 of their 24 matches. It certainly hasn’t been their offense that’s been slacking either as they have the league’s third-best offensive rating.
The heart and soul of this Warriors team has been on the defensive end, and it’s shown.
Everyone from Kevon Looney to Stephen Curry has stepped up defensively, and as usual, it’s been Draymond Green who has anchored the defense. The Warriors defend best how most high-scoring teams put points on the board, shooting the three.
They hold opponents to the third-worst three-point field goal percentage and the worst field goal percentage.
It’s been an absolutely dominant run for their defense, and that’s hats off to Jordan Poole and Curry for taking their game to the next level. One should also mention just how good Andrew Wiggins has been.
The former No. 1 overall pick has oftentimes been tasked with defending the opponent’s best player. Wiggins has taken the task and, most of the time, thrived. His defense has been key for the Warriors.
The Warriors total gets even more impressive on the road. Per teamrankings.com, they’re 2-7 on the total, meaning two of their nine games have gone Under the total set by oddsmakers. It’s tough to shut a team down while on the road, but they’ve done just that.
Golden State will be able to rely on their defense when it comes to playoffs, and you know the phrase “defense wins championships.” That’s exactly what Golden State will plan to do with its league-best defense.
