Golden State Warriors can consider Myles Turner

Myles Turner has long been a rumored target for the Golden State Warriors. Is there any validity to these rumors? Is Turner actually a good asset for the Dubs to pursue?

Turner gives the Dubs a rim running center

The most obvious benefit from trading for Turner is his two-way skill set. Turner has led the NBA in blocks twice (outpacing the entire Cleveland Cavaliers team on his own in 2018-19) and is a competent finisher in the paint.

The Warriors get an instant upgrade in the shot-blocking department with Turner. And, he acts as a more suitable lob partner than Kevon Looney for Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Perhaps best of all, Turner is shooting near 40 percent from the 3-point line on 4.6 attempts per game.

Punting on Wiseman could backfire

Everything that Turner brings to the table could just as easily be accomplished by James Wiseman, in the future. His potential to act as Chris Bosh 2.0 is something the Dubs should not hold lightly.

While trading for Turner gives the Warriors a sure-fire rim protector this season, they could be costing themselves long-term by punting on Wiseman so early.

For that reason, along with the fact that matching Turner’s salary would require more than just Wiseman to be included in the deal, leads us to conclude that Turner is not worth considering.
