Golden State Warriors potential target: Patrick Beverley

The Golden State Warriors, especially upon Wiseman’s return, will have playmaking on their second unit. What they could use more of is defending. Imagine having Iguodala, Beverley, Jordan Poole, and Gary Payton II coming off the bench.

With Wiseman and Poole as the main playmakers, that unit would have it all. As for Beverley, he’s well known around the league for his defending. He’s become known as one of the league’s best on-ball defenders.

On top of that, Beverley is actually shooting the highest percentage of his career. He’s hitting 46% of his shots from the field, an impressive rate, especially for Beverley. In just over two quarters per game, he’s also averaging over 4 rebounds and 4 assists per game.

Beverley will never be an elite three-point shooter, but he is competent enough to be a threat from deep. His defense is why the Warriors would want him. That, and his experience playing in big-time moments.

Combine it all, and Beverley makes sense. Again, he’s making just over $14 million, on the last season of his contract, making it relatively unlikely they trade for him. The fit is there though.
