Why Golden State Warriors shouldn’t trade with Pacers: Contract don’t add up
While the value isn’t necessarily there for many of the Pacers, neither are the contracts. The Pacers aren’t going to be trading their young studs like Duarte. Even if they were, the cost would be too great.
However, for the other, more high-profile Pacers, the contracts that the Warriors would need to add may force their hand with Andrew Wiggins. While he won’t be honored with one, Wiggins is playing like an All-Star caliber forward.
All three of the Pacers premier trade chips (Sabonis, Turner, and LeVert) are owed more than $17 million. The Warriors don’t have that type of cap space available. To be quite frank, for how he fits on their roster, the Warriors would rather have Wiggins than all three of those players.
With that in mind, knowing they’d have to trade a player like Wiggins, or one of their three Hall of Famers, it’s unlikely a deal is ever done. If the Warriors are going to go big, it’s because of a trade for a superstar like Damian Lillard.
Mixing things up for one of those three just isn’t a move this front office would make.
