Golden State Warriors: 3 ways Andrew Wiggins has made himself untradeable
It’s been a fantastic start to the season for Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins. Golden State is only 22-5 because of his play this season. He’s not going to be an All-Star, but for the first time in his career, he’s consistently been playing like one.
Wiggins was originally taken as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. He was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers but immediately traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a deal that featured Kevin Love.
The Golden State Warriors traded for forward Andrew Wiggins prior to the 2020 trade deadline, and they should be glad they did.
Love went to Cleveland and helped LeBron James bring the Cavs a title. As for Wiggins, he helped make a name for himself in Minnesota.
The Wolves had a chance at a deep playoff run when the team added Jimmy Butler, along with Karl-Anthony Towns and a few other key players. The Wolves barely made the playoffs and were outed after the first round.
Butler eventually found his way off the team, and after the 2018-2019 season, it was clear that Wiggins’ time in Minnesota was coming to an end. Having signed a max contract deal, it wasn’t easy to offload his contract.
However, he was traded to the Warriors for D’Angelo Russell and other pieces, a trade that also brought the Warriors Jonathan Kuminga. With that in mind, let’s dive into how he’s transformed himself into an untradeable force.
