Golden State Warriors buy-low target: D.J. Augustin

The Houston Rockets haven’t had Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green for an extended period of time.

In doing so, they’ve had to allot minutes in their backcourt to those further down on their depth chart, one being veteran guard D.J. Augustin. Augustin has shown his worth, recently exploding for 22 points, shooting 6-for-7 from deep.

The 5-foot-11 guard has averaged double figures in 3 of his last 4 seasons. So far this season, he’s at 5 points per game in just over 14 minutes per game, so while he hasn’t been terrific, the veteran also hasn’t been given much run.

Third-year guard Jordan Poole will likely hit the second unit upon Thompson’s return. When Poole becomes the main ball handler there, the Warriors could use point guard to help him dictate the flow of the offense.

Having been in the league for over a decade, The 34-year-old is shooting 46% from deep this season.

He would be able to keep the floor space, as he’s already proven he can this year. Given the Warriors don’t have many options behind Curry, tossing a second-round pick for Augustin could make sense.
