Golden State Warriors buy-low target: Derrick White
Another option that would be a bit more lucrative of a move for Golden State is Derrick White.
White, although he seems like he could be a core piece for a building San Antonio Spurs roster, is 27 and has typically taken a backseat to guard Dejounte Murray. White has had a few terrific games so far this season.
He’s averaging 14.1 points per game. While he is topping 30 minutes per game, White isn’t necessarily in the long-term plans for the Spurs given his age. Not a terrific three-point shooter, White’s been terrific from the line and is also averaging 5.2 assists per game.
The 6-foot-4 White does have a contract that makes it relatively unlikely, having signed a 4-year $73 million extension in past offseason. He has everything the Warriors should want in a backup point guard. He has pace, experience, and size.
White’s cost also shouldn’t be that of a player averaging 14 and 5, but his contract would make this a difficult deal for Golden State to pull off. It might be worth their while though.
