Golden State Warriors can revive Bismack Biyombo

Andrew Bogut, Festus Ezeli, JaVale McGee… Bismack Biyombo?

Biyombo is a natural successor to the long list of big men who have anchored the Golden State Warriors’ efforts in the paint. While they have varied in athleticism, size and effectiveness — the Dubs have always needed a lovable, hulking center to rely on.

The last time BIyombo was on a competent NBA team was in the 2016 NBA Playoffs when he emerged as a potential star. Since then, he has been phased out of rotations on lottery teams.

Biyombo can have a resurgence in Golden State. Not only would the Dubs use him in the exact role he was meant to play — but the shift in style this season due to the NBA’s rule change (which favors defense and restricts perimeter players) has made the game more suitable for centers like Biyombo.

Still a 6’9″ center who can move and block shots with proficiency, there is no reason Biyombo can’t succeed at bringing some depth to the Warriors’ frontcourt and potentially proving his worth as an asset throughout the season.
