Golden State Warriors should consider signing Iman Shumpert

Another veteran that’s not on a team that certainly may still have gas left in the tank is Iman Shumpert. Shumpert also last spent some time with Brooklyn as they looked to bring on veteran role players.

Shump was with the Nets last year for two games, playing just a total of 11 minutes. The season prior to that he played 13 games with the Nets, so he really hasn’t played in competitive, consistent basketball since the 2018-2019 season.

He spent that year with the Kings and Rockets, averaging 7.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in just under two quarters per game. Known as a 3-and-D player throughout the back half of his career, Shumpert, a former first-round pick, is just 31.

His numbers aren’t overly impressive, but he has the resume and could be helpful off the bench for Golden State if they need experienced players. Given his basketball IQ, Shumpert may be a good fit in the Warriors motion offensive.

Crawford and Shumpert don’t really make sense, but when it comes to needing players, if the Warriors become more banged up, having the experience makes more sense than bringing on those that haven’t played at a high level for long.
