Draymond Green rips NBA for postponing Warriors vs. Nuggets
The last few weeks have been a roller coaster of a ride for the Golden State Warriors.
For starters, both Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins have entered and been cleared from the league’s health and safety protocols. Just when things were trending upward for the availability of the roster, Draymond Green was sent to the league’s health and safety protocols.
The Warriors lost to the Nuggets on Tuesday and were supposed to play them again Thursday. Draymond Green is not happy the league postponed the game.
He missed the team’s game against Denver on Tuesday, a battle in which they stormed back from 24 down to lose by 3. The Warriors were set for the second of their back-to-back with Denver in the Mile High City on Thursday.
However, the league postponed the game as Covid-19-inflicted protocols just grew too much for the Nuggets. Many teams have had to postpone games because they don’t have the necessary 8 players.
Well, Green makes a good point when it comes to how the league is treating these issues.
Had Green been able to play on Tuesday, the Warriors easily may have come out on top. While they were down big, they lost by 3, and Green is drastically more than a 3-point difference for the Warriors.
Now, Green isn’t upset about the league canceling the game. That doesn’t seem to be the point. The point is how they’re canceling games when some teams are reduced to around 10 players yet still have that 8 to play.
The Warriors have been down key players like Green, Wiggins, and Poole, three of their four most impactful players, recently. Why not cancel the games that those players can’t be in? It’s a tough line the league has to walk, and it’s clearly starting to get to some of the players.
Golden State has been able to brace for this to happen by soaring out to the top of the Western Conference in the first few months of the season. However, the reasoning behind these rules is still not sitting well with some of the players.
Moving forward, it’ll be interesting how the league handles these issues, especially if a player like Curry or Green misses a week in the playoffs and virtually ends their franchise’s chances of moving on.
While these regular-season games may irritate a player like Green, it’ll get far more serious when these issues continue in the postseason.
