Rockets player Warriors should trade for: D.J. Augustin

The Golden State Warriors could add a backup veteran point guard like D.J. Augustin from Houston. Augustin was originally a top-ten pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. He hasn’t quite lived up to pre-draft expectations, but he is a player that could lead the Warriors’ second unit.

This season, Augustin is averaging 5.4 points per game in under 15 minutes of action a night. There’s no reason for the Rockets to keep Augustin around, especially with Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. also on the roster.

The biggest thing for Augustin is that he’s proven to be a competent shooter, notching over 40% from deep.

His three-point shooting would be a huge boost off the bench and would give Jordan Poole room to operate as well. The best part about a potential Augustin addition would be his cost.

This isn’t a huge problem for Golden State. Clearly, they’ve survived without a backup point guard. However, if a veteran that’s as efficient as Augustin is on the board for as little as a second-round pick, there’s no reason not to jump on it.
