Game Report: Warriors solidify standing with victory over Jazz
Golden State Warriors v Utah Jazz: Two Key Stats
1. Wiggins continues all-star push
Although his free throw shooting (3-7) continues to be an issue, the 26 year-old remains at the very top of his game in almost every other aspect.
After 17 points in the first half, Wiggins mirrored the Warriors collapse in the third and early part of the fourth. But to his credit, he produced some big late buckets to finish with 25 points and help seal an important victory. He was also a large factor in restricting Jazz star Donovan Mitchell to just 4-19 from the floor.
It’s the kind of two-way form that has him edging towards an all-star selection, something those in the organization continue to advocate for.
2. Porter’s big night
It seems that every week the 28 year-old is producing his best performance in a Warrior uniform, particularly of late given disruption to the roster. That was again the case against Utah, delivering a career high eight assists along with 20 points, seven rebounds and three steals.
Perhaps even more importantly, Porter played the second most minutes on the team, with his 36 minutes the first time he’d logged over 30 this season.
