Earlier this week, we wrote on why the Golden State Warriors should find themselves with three NBA All-Stars this season. If the first batch of fan votes is any indicator, this dream should become a reality.

The Golden State Warriors are itching for three All-Stars this season and the first batch of fan votes is an encouraging indicator.

It serves as no surprise Stephen Curry is among the leaders in votes. He’s tallied the most nods of any player in the NBA, with Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James slightly behind him as the only players with more than 2 million votes.

Appearing in the top five for Western Conference frontcourt players is Andrew Wiggins, a would-be first time All-Star who is perhaps the biggest factor in Golden State’s pursuit of getting three players into the game.

I think it is safe to say Draymond Green, who is fifth in frontcourt voting, will make the All-Star team one way or another. However, it was unclear if Wiggins would get the recognition he deserves.

With Paul George nurturing a recent torn ligament in his elbow, it is possible Wiggins will snatch a starting spot on the All-Star team. An unreal achievement for a player who was deemed a disappointment only a few years ago.

The trio of Wiggins, Green and Curry in the All-Star Game would undoubtedly be a fun one. Wiggins has never had the opportunity to flash his otherworldly athleticism in an All-Star format and I can only imagine the type of dunks we could see from him.

Notably, Klay Thompson found himself with over 350,000 votes, good for fourth in the Western Conference backcourt. Though he’s been sidelined for more than two years and has no chance of reaching the game, it is clear Klay still has a rabid fan base.

Fan voting wraps up on Jan. 22 while the reserves are selected by coaches on Feb. 3. The 2022 All-Star Game takes place in Cleveland on Feb. 20.
