We all knew he would be in the running, but Stephen Curry has jumped out in the lead as the Golden State Warriors’ superstar leads all stars in the first batch of fan voting.

The first returns of the NBA All-Star game fan voting have been released and Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry leads all players in votes.

To the surprise of no one, Steph remains one of the most popular players in the world and his MVP caliber season is a big reason why he has already surpassed 2.5 million votes. Steph is averaging 26.8 points per game to go along with 5.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists.

Curry is one of only four players in the NBA this season averaging at least 25/5/5. Even with him going through the worst shooting stretch of the year his season numbers are still phenomenal.

As you can see Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Andrew Wiggins join Steph on the list of top 10 vote-getters at their respective positions. The Warriors fan base continues to do their part to send their favorite Warriors to the all-star game.

Thompson who has not even played a game yet this season ranks fourth amongst western conference guards. With his return imminent I would be surprised if his votes did not continue to skyrocket over the coming weeks.

The deserved hype over the return of Klay and the continued success of the Warriors will only help each player in the fan voting. The more eyes on the Warriors the more votes they are bound to get.

Green and Wiggins are 100% deserving of their spots on the all-star roster. Wiggins has been one of the best two-way players in the west this year while Green should be the favorite for defensive player of the year. This would be Wiggins’s first career all-star game, and it would be in the city that originally drafted him number one overall, Cleveland.

At this point, Curry would face off against former Warrior Kevin Durant in the all-star draft. With Steph having the most votes and the first-overall pick. The all-star game draft has been one of the unique events in all of professional sports and it would be great to see Steph as a captain again.

For Curry, this would be his eighth career all-star game appearance and the second time as a team captain. Warriors fans should continue to vote for their favorite players in hopes that Green, Wiggins, or even Thompson can join Steph in Cleveland.
