Klay Thompson’s Game Six versus OKC in 2016

I understand the historical moments Thompson has had in his regular season career. But, my personal favorite has to be Thompson saving the historic season in 2016.

The Warriors were on their heels against the Kevin Durant led OKC Thunder in the WCF. After winning an NBA record 73 games in the regular season, the Dubs couldn’t lose in the WCF. After falling behind 3-1, the Warriors found themselves down 3-2 heading into the hostile environment in Oklahoma City.

Trailing for most of the 4th quarter, it was becoming desperation time for the Dubs. Thankfully when you have the two greatest shooters this game has ever seen, “desperation shots” for them still have a high chance of going in.

Thompson put on some of the greatest shot-making I have ever seen in my time watching the NBA. The sheer difficulty and moment of that game perfectly encapsulate Klay as a competitor. Knocking down an NBA record 11 threes, Thompson took over that game and helped bring the Dubs back to win the series in 7 games.

The night “Game 6 Klay” was born, may have altered the next couple of years of the NBA. The very next season Durant joined the Warriors.
