Klay’s scoring outbursts

60 points in 29 Minutes

This next moment describes Klay’s hilarious personality during the 2016-2017 season. On a normal December regular season game, Thompson and the Warriors were set to take on the Indiana Pacers. Former Warrior David West has gone on record that before this game, Klay had missed practice the day before and even the shootaround that morning. He said about 5 words all day and then simply went out and dropped 60 in 3 quarters without much dribbling. He became the first player in the shot-clock era to record 60 points in under 30 minutes of playing time. Klay even begged coach Steve Kerr to put him back in to no avail, and Klay would have to settle with 60 being his new career-high.

37 in a Quarter

One of the most iconic moments in NBA history happened in Oracle against the Sacramento Kings. In the 3rd quarter, Thompson would set another NBA record when he poured in 37 points in a single quarter. What made it even more impressive was Thompson’s perfection. Klay went 13-13 from the field and 9-9 from three. Again, some of the most insane shot-making I have seen in NBA history and probably will be a record held for quite some time. Even Klay couldn’t believe it saying “That was crazy. I don’t know what happened. I’ve never shot like that.”

Honorable Mentions

A couple of honorable mention moments are the NBA record 14 3s in Chicago, 43 points on 4 dribbles, or even the 10 straight 3s against the Lakers in 2018.

Another NBA record Thompson has for most consecutive made 3s to start a game. How many more NBA records should he break before he gets the respect he deserves?

Thompson returning will be a happy and emotional night for everyone. Long term, if Klay is back to himself which a lot of folks are saying he is. The league better look out for the Dubs this second half of the season.
