Klay Thompson’s climactic return to the Golden State Warriors was everything the Splash Brother hoped it would be. He nailed his first shot, dunked on multiple defenders and had a mini heat-check in the third quarter to seal a victory.

On a rare occasion, the NBA world fully embraced and showered the Warriors in love. Klay Day was a celebration of the hard work it took Thompson to return — and admiration of his legendary career thus far.

A week later, the party is over.

The league has wasted no time gunning at the Warriors, who previously held the top record in the league before a two-game backslide.

Golden State has a target on its back once again and the only way to fend off the hungry wolves is to strike first.

The Golden State Warriors had their moment of glory when Klay Thompson returned. Now, it’s time to get back to work.

An ice-cold wake-up call shook the Warriors in Memphis. The Grizzlies, in the midst of an 11-game win streak, took it right at the Dubs and came out on top.

Ja Morant, who wasn’t even in the league the last time Thompson played against Memphis, scored 29 points and dished 8 assists en route to victory. This young Grizzlies team had a statement to make and they did so in stern fashion.

Next, the Dubs traveled to Milwaukee to take on the defending champions. A good opportunity to test their strength saw the Warriors thwarted almost immediately after the tip. The Bucks rolled over Golden State in a 118-99 beatdown.

Had it not been for a bounce-back game against the Eastern Conference’s top-seeded Chicago Bulls, the Dubs would have lost three consecutive gems for the first time all season.

The Warriors have been playing without their heart and soul, Draymond Green. It should come as no surprise they have not packed the same punch without him. Though, this recent stretch serves as a clear reminder that the fun is over — it’s time to go to work.

Golden State has the fifth easiest schedule in the league moving forward. Enduring these growing pains and getting the ship straight before the playoffs will be key to reclaiming the title.
