It’s been a tough week for the Golden State Warriors.

They’ve been without three-time All-Star forward and defensive anchor Draymond Green for the past six games, and in their most recent road trip, the importance of his absence was on full display. Green is expected to be out for a few weeks still.

The Golden State Warriors will have a lengthy homestand that starts against the Detroit Pistons, a game in which Stephen Curry is likely to make his return in.

Once holding the best record in the NBA, the Warriors have lost 5 of their last 7.

Thankfully, two-time MVP Stephen Curry will return on Tuesday. He’s not listed on the team’s injury report, so it should be assumed that he’ll be taking the court. Green, Gary Payton II, Moses Moody, and James Wiseman are the only Warriors listed.

While the Warriors would hopefully be able to handle business against the Pistons without Curry, his presence will bring a calming nature to the team’s offense. There should be hope they finally find their rhythm once again.

Prior to Curry’s two-game absence, he was in one of the worst shooting slumps of his career. With some time off to rest not just his hand but his entire body, he should be able to come back at full strength. Curry is too good to keep struggling.

That said, this game against Detroit will set the standard for their massive 7-game homestand, one that will feature many high-caliber teams coming to the Chase Center. If Curry isn’t at an MVP level for those games, it could turn ugly for Golden State.

They have thankfully put together such a dominant season that losing to mid-level competition while Green is getting back to full strength won’t kill their record. That’s what a great start to the season does for a team.

With that in mind, Curry should be back in action on Tuesday and expect an explosive performance against a Pistons side that ranks 23rd in defensive rating.
