Golden State Warriors player that must step up: Jordan Poole

Thompson is on limited minutes, and Curry is coming off a hand injury. While he was going to get minutes regardless, Poole is going to have to continue to step up on the offensive end while the splash brothers find their rhythm.

Poole is having by far the best season of his career, and that was on full display against the Pistons. Prior to that game, Poole was averaging 17.2 points per game. More impressively, he’s shooting 44% from the field.

It’s been a breakout season for the team’s former first-round pick. With Thompson back on the court, Poole is now the leader of the second unit, and he’ll have minutes that dictate the flow of the game.

It’s important that, in those minutes in which he’s the primary playmaker, he makes the most of them and contributes positively. Both Thompson and Curry have been in slumps over the past week and a half, so it could very well be Poole who captains the offense.

Poole is nearing 30 minutes per game and has proven to be one of the best young guards in the game. Hopefully, that continues for the remainder of the season as Golden State will need it to snap out of their current funk.
