Golden State Warriors: Kevon Looney is the unsung hero

It is time to give credit where it is due. Kevon Looney has been an unsung hero all season long and he deserves his recognition.

Looney has accepted the challenge of playing center for the undersized Golden State Warriors. Standing at just 6’9″, Looney has been outmatched by most of his competitors but this has not stopped him from getting the job done.

He’s averaging a career-high 7.2 rebounds and is a key reason the Warriors are fourth in rebounding despite not playing a single seven-footer each night.

It was Looney’s 18 rebounds over Cleveland that helped Golden State fend off the trio of seven-footers. And, it was Looney who provided a spark of fire needed to match Rudy Gobert and defeat the Utah Jazz on Sunday.

Over his last nine games, Looney is hauling in 10.9 rebounds a night. He’s playing pristine pick-and-roll defense while rising to the occasion on the boards. Without Looney, the Dubs would be lost right now.
