Warriors vs Timberwolves Prediction

Stephen Curry has been in a slump. Averaging just 20.6 points per game in January while shooting 36.5% from the field and 29.1% from beyond the arc, he just hasn’t been himself. Perhaps the rumors he’s battling an injury are correct, or maybe he’s missing Draymond Green’s offensive impact, or it might just be the normal ebbs and flows of a season.

Whatever the reason, the Warriors have been slumping with him. Just 5-13-1 against the spread (ATS) over their last 15 games, Golden State’s offensive rating has fallen from a top-12 mark on the season to 26th in that time frame. They’ve maintained a strong defense with the 3rd-best defensive rating, but they’re not the juggernaut they were at the beginning of the year.

Now they take on a surging Timberwolves team that has won eight of their last 11 games behind stellar play from Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell. During the Warriors’ 15-game slump, Minnesota actually has a higher net rating (difference between offensive and defensive rating), at 4.3 compared to Golden State’s 3.5.

Just eleven days ago, the Timberwolves beat the Warriors by 20 at the Target Center behind a career-high 48 points from Edwards. Even if the young star doesn’t replicate that, I think a 6-point spread is too large for two teams going in opposite directions.

I’ll take the Timberwolves +6 as my best bet in this one and think the moneyline at +200 is worth a look too.
