A storm is brewing… with Klay Thompson having his best game in nearly three years, the Golden State Warriors are putting the league on notice.

Trouble is on the horizon.

Thompson, who had been sidelined for close to 1,000 days before returning against the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier in January, has wasted no time knocking the dust off. He came out firing, shooting at the highest rate of his career.

The Golden State Warriors can rest assured, Klay Thompson is determined to find his basketball groove one way or another.

While Klay’s high volume did not lead to any efficient scoring, it was a sign that he is healthy and eager to compete again. As just about everyone in the league understood, it was only a matter of time before those shots started falling.

And fall they did.

It wasn’t his biggest game by any means but scoring 23 points in 27 minutes is the type of scorching hot shooting we have grown to associate with Thompson.

He drilled 5-of-9 deep attempts, making this the first time since 2019 that the Splash Brothers each made five 3-pointers in the same game.

Combining this with his last performance in Dallas, Klay has now hit eight of his last 14 attempts. If this means he is finding his groove, the NBA is in deep trouble.

Golden State has fallen back in the standings but still maintains the second-best record in the league. A resurgence from Thompson is all it takes for them to go on a run and secure the top spot in the Western Conference once again.

The road back to the NBA Finals is going to require a bit of magic from Thompson. He’s entered the year headstrong and seems to be finding his place in the offense. Allow proper time for him to catch a second wind — and be reintegrated next to Draymond Green in the future, and Golden State will have everything coming together just in time for the home stretch of the season.
