The Golden State Warriors have been otherworldly at home
The Golden State Warriors’ most recent victory was a 110-106 win over the Brooklyn Nets who were down both Kevin Durant and James Harden. The Dubs overcame some third-quarter struggles which saw the Nets bring the game close, cutting a 19-point lead.
Kyrie Irving, who can play in road games, was active, scoring 32 points and almost leading a ferocious comeback. Patty Mills also chipped in 24 points, but it still wasn’t enough as the Warriors at home have been dominant.
The Golden State Warriors might not have the best record in the league, but at the Chase Center, they’ve been an unstoppable force so far this season.
The Warriors were led by All-Star Game starter Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins scored 24 points and shoot 10-for-18 from the field. Golden State put five players over 15 points. Spreading the wealth helped them over an otherwise pitiful shooting night.
The Warriors didn’t shoot well, hitting under 41% of their attempts from the field, but they still won. That’s why they have the NBA’s best home record. It might not always be pretty, but they’ve continually got the job done at the Chase Center.
Golden State is 23-4 at home this season. The Heat are 18-5 at home, and the Suns are 20-5, but neither are at the same level as Golden State. That said, it was a much-needed seven-game homestand for the Warriors.
They were able to go 6-1 after losing 3 of 4 on the road. That type of home-court advantage will come in huge in the playoffs, especially as Golden State is currently possessing the second-best record in the NBA.
When looking at just home games for teams, the Warriors have the 10th-best defensive rating. That’s not what’s allowed them to send fans home without seeing a win just four times. What’s been the backbone of this team has been their top-ranked defense.
At home, their defensive rating this season is under 100, the only team in the league with such a rating. On top of that, they hold a top-five rebounding rate and the top overall assist rate. They do the gritty and smart things, and that composure will allow them to evolve as an organization.
Golden State’s dominant home play is something that should be noted by fans and feared by opponents for the remainder of the season.
