Golden State Warriors trade for Myles Turner

The Warriors said they don’t plan to trade for a center.

That could be true, but there’s no denying that one could help take their defense to yet another level. Kevon Looney and Myles Turner splitting time in their frontcourt would give Golden State several different styles of play.

They’d have a do-it-all big and then an elite rim protector and three-point threat. The case, especially to make the cap work, could certainly be made, but there’s no denying it would likely include a young star.

However, Turner is leading the league in blocks per game at 2.8.

If that stays true, it’ll be his third season leading the NBA in blocks. Turner is also making 1.5 threes per game. It’s more impressive that he’s connecting from deep while shooting over 50% from the field, just the second time he’s hit that mark in his career.

The Warriors have the league’s best defensive rating, so they’re doing something right. With Green leading the defense, imagine what they could do with the league’s block leader also on the roster. That’s a scary thought.
