Golden State Warriors: A team capable of defending at a high level

The Golden State Warriors have the No. 1 ranked defense in the NBA, and as they say (although it really relates to football), defense wins championships.

The Warriors’ defense may not win them a championship on its own, but it’s certainly going to be a key reason why they make it to the NBA Finals. The Warriors have a 103.2 defensive rating, the best in the league.

That improves to an even 100 at home as well. Defensively, the team is led by Green, who should get some serious consideration for Defensive Player of the Year. Green is averaging more than a block and steal per game.

Despite not playing at an extremely high pace, the Warriors do rank second in steals per game and 11th in blocks per game.

The Warriors’ defense has been impressive this season, and there cannot be much more said of center Kevon Looney as well. Looney has been a staple of the Warriors’ defense, able to switch onto smaller guards. Even Curry has been incredible defensively.

It’s been a full team effort, and their defensive effort will certainly be one reason they stay atop the NBA.
