Warriors: Making the case against trading Nemanja Bjelica

The Golden State Warriors have Otto Porter Jr. who can rebound and shoot, but Porter Jr. doesn’t match Bjelica’s size. Bjelica is 6-foot-10 and 234 pounds. Bjelica has a couple inches and around 35 pounds for Porter Jr.

Bjelica has a unique blend of size and shooting that Golden State doesn’t have much of. Looney and Wiseman both don’t shoot from deep often which could present a spacing issue offensively, although the Warriors haven’t ran into many issues.

Bjelica could give the Warriors a higher ceiling offensively for a spurts where they don’t prefer a player of Looney’s skill set.

At the same time, if the Warriors do trade Bjelica, his return would hardly be worth it and he’d more than likely be heading to a contender. The Warriors are wanting to win a championship and may have to go through any team that would want to acquire Bjeliica.

Bjelica also may not have his hit peak, shooting 38% from deep on his career. He’s at 34% this season. If he can improve his shooting, he may get more minutes in the Warriors rotation.

That said, don’t expect Bjelica to be on the move prior to the deadline.
