Golden State Warriors can pursue Robin Lopez

As is the case for everyone on this list, we are operating under the assumption both parties can come to an agreement on the financial side. The Warriors are as deadlocked for cap space as anyone in the league, so bear with us.

Pros

In the event Robin Lopez is available, he brings something the Warriors are hungry for — Size.

Lopez would be the only active seven-footer on the roster. Yes, James Wiseman is a towering big but it is unclear if or when he will return this season as he navigates a tricky knee injury.

Instead, the Dubs could bank on Lopez to use his massive frame to hold down the paint while they await the return of Wiseman and Draymond Green. Furthermore, this takes the pressure off Kevon Looney who has been having a stellar season.

Cons

The obvious downside is having to free up a roster spot. Who do the Warriors part ways with? Is anyone worth losing for a rental, aging center?

It’s hard to say. On one hand, a player like Lopez could become vital in a potential playoff series against some of the best Western Conference centers. In contrast, he might not even crack the rotation.

This is something the Warriors will have to heavily consider before pulling the trigger on any buyout candidates.
