Impact trade for the Warriors: Clippers acquiring Powell and Covington

The Los Angeles Clippers might be without Paul George for several more weeks and without Kawhi Leonard for the rest of the year, but they weren’t going to let them stop them from contending.

It seems the Clippers assume they’ll get George back as they brought in Norman Powell and defensive specialist Robert Covington. Powell put up 28 points in 24 minutes of action against the Bucks in his Clippers’ debut.

Even Covington has had a good start to his Clippers’ career, scoring 27 points in his two games. Covington ranks 7th in deflections per game which is why the Clippers opted to bring him in. Covington and George would be a dynamic defensive duo.

Add in forward Marcus Morris, and the Clippers would be a tough team to score on. With Powell’s offense combined with guard Reggie Jackson’s scoring, Los Angeles should thrive offensively as well.
