Why Robin Lopez is Warriors perfect target: Need

The Golden State Warriors aren’t going to bring in a forward when the buyout market starts to heat up. They’re not going to bring in a shooting guard, and there seems like a very small chance they bring in a backup point guard.

The only need they really have is at center, and it’s starting to become a larger problem.

The Warriors were absolutely abused on the glass against the Jazz who were even without star center Rudy Gobert, and as noted, there’s no real clue whether or not Wiseman will be able to be that Andrew Bogut-like rim protector for a quarter or two a game.

Against an elite opponent, although Looney has been playing well, the size that Lopez brings would be huge. He’s a legit 7 feet tall, and given that both Green and Looney don’t even hit 6-foot-10, that size could be extremely important.

The Warriors, whether they wanted to believe it or not, may have an Achilles heel, and it’s their size. Adding a Myler Turner-like player never made much sense as they’d have to have traded Andrew Wiggins, who was named an All-Star Game starter.

However, it almost makes too much sense to not bring in Lopez if he’s available.
