Despite their 42-15 record, the Warriors have struggled a bit lately as they’re starting to feel the effects of Draymond’s extended absence. They haven’t covered the spread in their last five games and have dipped to the 9th-best net rating over their last 15. That’s still a good ranking, but it’s not the elite, destroyer-of-worlds type of numbers we saw from them before this stretch.
Luckily for Golden State, the Clippers have also been struggling. Los Angeles is just 1-5 against the spread (ATS) in their last six and will be missing Norman Powell and Luke Kennard tonight. They are just 19th in net rating over their last 15 games with a bottom-10 offense and defense.
These teams have played each other twice this season with Golden State winning both, and both times the total hit the under. I think we’ll see that trend continue between two teams who are struggling offensively. While they’ve struggled defensively as well, I think these defenses are set up well to exploit the offensive problems each team has.
The Warriors are playing at a bottom-10 pace over the last three weeks and the Clippers will be missing a chunk of their offense without Powell and Kennard. Golden State’s struggles against the spread worry me, but I do think they pull off the victory.
Give me the under 221 (-110) as my best bet as the under improves to 30-16 when the Warriors are favored.
