Warriors: Stephen Curry is ready to put slump behind him
By Tony Pesta
It’s been a lukewarm season from the 3-point line for Stephen Curry. At least, by the standard he has set for himself with the Golden State Warriors.
Prior to the break, Curry had been shooting just 37.9% from deep. Though this is above league-average, it’s well below his career average of 43.3% (excluding this season).
While everyone has been waiting for him to snap out of his mid-streak and heat up again, it might have just happened on NBA All-Star Weekend.
Curry exploded in the All-Star Game, nearly doubling the previous record for 3-pointers in a game by drilling an absurd 16 total 3-pointers, including a turnaround from nearly half-court.
As we all know, sometimes it just takes one game for a shooter to regain confidence, not that Curry had lost any, of course.
Stephen Curry has had a mild season (by his standards) from deep but the Golden State Warriors superstar is ready to put that behind him.
It was a special night in Cleveland for the first time All-Star MVP and it is hopefully the type of walking-inferno performance we are going to see down the stretch of the regular season.
Yet, seeing the ball go through the hoop 16 times as he draws double and triple teams in an All-Star Game is something that should boost Curry’s ego to a new level. Especially, when the Cleveland crowd had been booing him all night.
The Warriors have a steep hill to climb if they want to finish with the best record in the NBA as they are more than six games behind the Phoenix Suns. However, with Chris Paul out for two months and the upcoming return of Draymond Green (and maybe James Wiseman), the Dubs have a fighting chance.
With this being said, the Warriors will be in an even better position if Curry turns the corner and starts firing like he usually does.
