The Andrew Wiggins-Jordan Poole duo needs more minutes

Jordan Poole is now on the second unit, and Andrew Wiggins is a starter.

It’s been like that for several weeks now since the return of Klay Thompson Obviously, for how the season has transitioned, these two aren’t going to see as many minutes together as when they were both in the starting lineup.

Poole and Wiggins have been a great duo for Golden State though.

They have the third-most minutes together of any two-man duo this season, only outdone by the Wiggins-Curry and Wiggins-Looney duos. That said, Poole and Wiggins, when sharing the court, have an 11.6 net rating. Even in the past 15 games, they still have a 9.1 net rating.

They have the best defensive rating of any of the team’s top five duos and the second-best offensive rating of that group. What having two together would do is stabilize the non-Curry minutes.

You simply play Wiggins the entirety of the first quarter and tag him with Poole halfway through, potentially sitting Thompson and bringing him back early in the second. Getting Wiggins more time with the second unit should only bring positives for the Warriors.
