Warriors player to blame for lacking play: Klay Thompson

For the first few weeks following his return, five-time All-Star guard Klay Thompson got a pass. However, it’s been months since his return, and it’s time to start expecting Thompson to become more efficient from the field.

Over the past few weeks, Thompson hasn’t played well, having missed two games with non-Covid illness as well which potentially threw off his rhythm.

Thompson, same with Curry, is on pace to have the first season of his career in which he’s isn’t shooting over 40% from deep. He’s averaging 16.5 points per game and shooting 41% from the field.

Over his last 5 games, Thompson is shooting 33% from the field and 31% from deep, scoring just 12.8 points per game while getting 28.5 minutes per game. Missing 4 games since the start of February certainly hasn’t helped his efficiency.

The Warriors need Thompson at his former All-Star level to have a real shot at the NBA Finals, and while we’ve seen stretches of that player, he hasn’t put it together recently. His struggles have aided Golden State’s mere 2-8 record over its last 10.
