The Golden State Warriors have been in a rut and it appears they are prepared to potentially forfeit a game against the Denver Nuggets by resting Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins on Monday night.

The decision to rest three of the Warriors’ most important players in this game is an interesting one considering Draymond Green, James Wiseman and Andre Iguodala are on the sideline, as well.

Golden State holds a five-game advantage over the Nuggets — which would have felt safe a few weeks ago, but given their 2-8 record over the last 10 games, it’s entirely possible the Dubs continue slipping in the standings.

Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors have elected to sit multiple stars against Denver despite the team being in a slump.

Resting everyone and granting Denver an easy opportunity for a win is questionable. Especially considering the reigning MVP, Nikola Jokic, is on fire and just recorded an incredible 46 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists against New Orleans

The Nuggets have not announced any resting players tonight despite an overtime match against the Pelicans last night.

It is understandable for the Dubs to rest players as the big picture is still the most important thing. Yet, with the Warriors in such a horrific slump lately, it feels strange to punt on another opportunity to get things back in order.

The Warriors only have a few weeks before the playoffs begin. They do not want to enter the postseason banged up — but they also shouldn’t be content with where they are in the journey.

Of course, there is a potential benefit to resting this game. Curry, Wiggins and Thompson need to refocus and get back to playing great basketball. A night off can give them a chance to recoup and return with a fresh slate.

However, I’d argue this should have happened at the All-Star break. Now is not the time to rest players and take nights off.
