Dante Exum can shine with Golden State Warriors

A career plagued by injuries, Dante Exum is eager for one more shot at being a rotation player in the NBA. Can he achieve this with the Golden State Warriors?

Pros

Exum was having a strong 2020-21 season in Cleveland before suffering a calf injury. His statistics were not eye-popping but he was providing gritty perimeter defense with unique playmaking as a lanky 6’5″ point guard.

There are shaded of Shaun Livingston in Exum’s game and journey. Livingston found a home in Golden State by being a distributor and defender — can Exum do the same?

Cons

Health will always be a major concern for Exum. He hasn’t put together a full season since his rookie stint and has spent the last year overseas attempting to hone his craft.

The risk of signing Exum is magnified by the fact Golden State would have to cut someone to make room for him. His upside is interesting and he can bolster a weak defense but the risk might be too heavy.
