The Golden State Warriors desperately need four-time All-Star forward Draymond Green back on the court, and they’re finally able to see his return date on the horizon. Green is targeting March 14 for a return.

The Warriors, with a loss to Denver on Monday night, have dropped their record over last their 11 games to just 2-9. Without Green in the lineup, the Warriors have barely looked like a playoff-caliber team.

After more than two months, the Warriors now have an idea of when Draymond Green will be back on the court. March 14 is the current return date.

It’s been an absolutely unacceptable last several weeks for the Warriors. Two-time MVP Stephen Curry has often struggled with his efficiency, and the combination of Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins have rarely been consistent with their production.

The Warriors’ poor play has now succumbed to the surging Grizzlies as Memphis jumped Golden State for the 2nd spot in the West. This means, if the results hold over the next several weeks, the Warriors won’t be guaranteed homecourt advantage in the second round.

With one of the best home records in the NBA, having that extra game at the Chase Center could be the difference between advancing and not. Having lost their position in the standings, it’ll be a challenge to get it back as well, having the 9th most difficult remaining schedule.

As for Green, he was the one that broke the news about his return. It was on the “The Draymond Green Show” which he announced his possible return against the Washington Wizards next Monday.

Golden State will have 3 games between now and then.

Green has been instrumental in the Warriors’ success this season. He was a huge part of their early-season success, and the numbers don’t truly showcase his impact on the Warriors’ winning ways.

Green is averaging 7.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game.

He does it all and is also still a candidate for Defensive Player of the Year. Having many accolades to his name, Green hasn’t played since January 9, so he’s probably itching to get back on the court and help his team.

Golden State needs Green to come back, but it’ll undoubtedly be more important that he’s healthy for the playoffs. Hopefully, Green can get back to 100% and stay there for the remainder of the season.
