Why the Warriors should trade James Wiseman: Contract

The Warriors will more than likely pick up Wiseman’s team option this offseason. It would be very surprising if they didn’t.

Wiseman will be the fifth-highest paid player for Golden State entering the offseason if they pick it up.  With Andrew Wiggins’ contract expiring after next season, Wiseman will be the fourth-highest paid player for the 2023-2024 season.

While Wiseman being paid a healthy amount won’t break the bank for Golden State, especially as he’s still under eight figures next season, the Warriors will be tight on cap space as they look to add pieces and continue their dynasty.

The Warriors already rank 30th in cap space this coming offseason with four max-contract players, so trading Wiseman may be able to free up some space and help the Warriors add players more likely to help them make a title run.

It no longer seems like trading Wiseman is mortgaging the future, so it could make sense to better prepare for their current situation.
