Golden State Warriors player in playoff rotation: Gary Payton II

Players with unique skill sets are going to be in the Warriors playoff rotation. That’s why it feels like Gary Payton II has a better chance of making the 9-man rotation over a player like Damion Lee.

Payton II is one of the best on-ball defenders in the NBA.

That’s been his bread and butter this season. Of players that have managed over 500 minutes this season, Payton II ranks second in deflections per 36 minutes at 5.3. Only Matisse Thybulle averages more.

On top of being a terrific defender, Payton II is shooting 61% from the field this season. He’s also knocking down 36% of his attempts from deep. He’s averaging 7.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game this season.
