Potential Golden State Warriors free agent center: Marc Gasol

It would take a bit of convincing, but the Warriors have a championship-level roster. Former Defensive Player of the Year center Gasol isn’t in the NBA right now because he doesn’t want to be. Gasol played 52 games last season and started 42 of them.

While he averaged just 5 points per game last season, playing with the Lakers, Gasol shot 41% from deep and drilled a triple a game which would be both an improvement in spacing and rim protection for the Warriors.

Once upon a time, Gasol was the best defensive big man in the game. He’s a two-time All-NBA center as well. Now 37, Gasol is done in the NBA, but there still could be a return if he wants it.

The Warriors make sense for Gasol as he wouldn’t need many minutes to produce and could just be a key weapon off the bench. Another huge plus, if the Dubs could reel in Gasol, is his ability, despite his age, to hang with guards when switched onto them.

He could still be that good, and it’s at least worth a shot for Golden State.
