Potential Golden State Warriors free agent center: Meyers Leonard

There are a plethora of reasons that adding Meyers doesn’t make sense, and atop the list is his antisemitic comments that seemingly crushed the desire for any team to keep him on their roster. Leonard recently reiterated that there could be interest though.

“As everybody in the room knows, there’s plenty of NBA teams who want me and that I could be playing for right now, but I’m just not healthy enough. Did the incident help my case? No. But this time to heal? Yes,” he said via the Chicago Tribune.

He also had season-ending shoulder surgery last season, and there’s no telling if he’s even if good enough condition to play in the next few weeks.

However, there are a handful of reasons that Leonard would be a good fit with the roster. For starters, as with Gasol, Leonard can shoot from deep. He’s a career 39% three-point shooter, hitting 48.2% of his attempts from the field.

For a team that relies on spacing like Golden State, that could be a major point of emphasis. He’s also had a defensive rebounding rate over 20% for the last 4 straight seasons, so he’s solid on the glass.
