3 ways the Golden State Warriors can mend size issues
Get Nemanja Bjelica more minutes
The Warriors have some size on their bench, but they haven’t been giving 6-foot-10 power forward Nemanja Bjelica many minutes. There are a few reasons why Bjelica hasn’t seen big-time minutes, many of which have to deal with how talented the Warriors frontcourt players are.
Bjelica also doesn’t have nearly the same speed as Jonathan Kuminga and can’t quite switch onto opposing guards as well either. Bjelica does have the team’s second-best rebounding rate.
He’s a capable rebounder, averaging 4.0 rebounds per game while getting under 16 minutes per game. Increase that to his per 36-minute average and Bjelica is topping 9 rebounds per game, sitting at a career-high 9.2.
Bjelica has given Steve Kerr some solid minutes this season, and if all he needs to do is give around 15 minutes per game off the bench to help spell either Kuminga or Looney, it would make sense for the Dubs to get him more involved.
Also, the Warriors have hide defenders before and have done it relatively well, so Bjelica not being able to switch onto guards may be less of a liability than many may think. His ability to shoot helps spacing offensively as well.
Getting Bjelcia more involved just makes sense.
