Poole Running the Show

Where we’ve really seen Poole shine is games where the stars are out. A few times this year the warriors have had rest nights, and Poole has taken over control of the team. Not just with scoring, but we’ve really seen an improvement to his playmaking with some serious dimes. He looks to be so in control out there like nothing can ever rattle him. Let’s not forget his finishing at the rim as well. A few impressive dunks, Poole also has an impeccable touch around the hoop and has some of the most crafty finishes we’ve seen all year.

Last Wednesday night in Miami was a perfect example of what Poole can become. I was having deja vu of Stephen Curry erupting in the 3rd quarter when JP went on a 9-0 run in 3 plays. Which included a one-leg bank in three to beat the shot clock. A heat check taken from the parking lot, and another banked in three where he arguably got fouled. He completely shifted the momentum of the game with his ridiculous shot-making.

Poole’s Hot Stretch

Poole has scored 20+ in the last 13 games which is the longest record by a warrior not named Durant or Curry in the last decade. Jordan has now taken the jump of playing with the starting unit whether it be off the ball or on the ball. One could argue, it’s going to be impossible for Steve Kerr to keep him out of the starting or closing lineup. Luckily for Steve, Steph will be out of the lineup for a little longer so he won’t have to worry. In the heat of the playoffs, will the Warriors be able to get away with a lineup consisting of Curry, Poole, Thompson, Wiggins, and Green? It’s gonna be hard to sit Looney or even Iguodala.
