Player the Warriors should trade Wiseman for: Jonas Valanciunas

The Memphis Grizzlies may have given up Jonas Valanciunas for a better fit in Steven Adams, but Big Val is having a tremendous impact on the New Orleans Pelicans and still has two years left on his contract following this season.

He’s scheduled to make $14.7 million next year and then $15.4 million, both amounts the Warriors should be okay with.

Val is averaging 18.1 points per game this season and shooting 54.2% from the field. On top of that, he’s a competent three-point threat, averaging .8 threes per game and knocking down 35.9% of his attempts from deep.

With an average of only 3.3 fouls per game, Valanciunas has been able to stay on the court, helping will his Pelicans to a play-in tournament berth. He’s also hauling in 11.6 rebounds per game, making for his third straight season of a double-double average.

Val alongside Green and Wiggins would create a formidable frontcourt that has an ample amount of size and grit.

The Warriors may return draft capital as well given Wiseman’s ceiling. His fit in New Orleans alongside an ever-improving core of Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson would make sense. The short-term gains for Golden State make this a worthwhile trade to pursue.
