The Golden State Warriors embark on their first playoff journey since 2019. While many familiar faces will be returning — a couple of new players will get their first chance to leave a mark on the postseason.

Who will shine brightest in their first NBA Playoff game for the Golden State Warriors? Will it be someone like Jordan Poole or Andrew Wiggins?

We can expect to see Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole make their Warriors’ postseason debut tonight. It is also likely Otto Porter Jr. and Nemanja Bjelica receive minutes. Other names like Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and Gary Payton could all get their first taste of playoff basketball.

But who of this bunch will shine brightest?

The stage is set for an explosive game from Poole. He’s been red hot from the floor lately and seems destined to carry a significant offensive load during the playoffs.

With Stephen Curry returning on a minute’s restriction, it is possible we see Poole juggle between being the primary ball-handler and third-fiddle to the Splash Brothers. This could cause a slow start for the three guards as each of them attempts to build chemistry on the fly.

Someone who will be more sure of his role is Wiggins. Reverting back to his place in the shadows, Wiggins will be able to pick and choose his shots tonight — one of the luxuries of playing next to three offensive superstars.

Wiggins has only competed in one playoff series, averaging 15.8 points as his Minnesota Timberwolves were defeated by Houston in five games back in 2018. A lot has changed for Wiggins since then, he’s a revitalized defender and has a newfound touch from deep.

Nonetheless, if there is one player who could emerge as a surprise tonight — it’s Jonathan Kumigna. The rookie might not even see the floor but if he does, we can expect him to bring the energy.

A breathtaking athlete who can defend multiple positions and apply pressure to the rim, Kuminga’s presence would be a pleasure to see. If Kuminga manages to get some burn, he’s my pick to garner the most attention as tonight’s biggest surprise.
