Warriors role player that has stepped up: Otto Porter Jr.

One might ask: Why is Otto Porter Jr. on this list? It’s a fine question in all sincerity. So far this series, Porter Jr. has shot the ball terribly, just 6-for-18 from the field. He’s shot over 40% from the field in just one game.

However, it’s all the other things he’s done that have been incredibly impactful for the Warriors. For starters, he’s a quality deep threat and has shot over 40% in three straight seasons from deep.

Despite going 1-for-10 to start the season, his confidence won’t waiver. On top of that, Porter Jr. has been quick to distribute the ball and keep the offense flowing flawlessly. He has 9 assists through 3 games, having played around 70 minutes.

He also has a +41, and he was +16 in the Warriors’ most recent 5-point win. Now, playing with Curry helps as he’s been coming off the bench, but Porter Jr. has done everything that head coach Steve Kerr has asked of him.

The shooting will come, but the impact on both ends of the court, also tallying 3 steals and 2 blocks, is there. Expect Porter Jr. to have a great impact when he starts to drain his three-point attempts.
