The Warriors’ Dynasty Isn’t Over

The Warriors cemented themselves as one of the best teams in NBA history by winning three championships in a five-year span. The team also has the record for the most wins in regular season history after going 73-9 in the 2015-16 season.

However, due to the departure of Kevin Durant, the injuries to both Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry, the team went back-to-back seasons without making the NBA Playoffs. They even had the league’s worst record in 2020, only going 15-50, which was one of the four worst seasons in Warriors franchise history.

This had the media assuming that their legendary run had come to an end. However, by winning this year’s title, Golden State has a chance to follow in yet another dynasty’s footsteps.

The San Antonio Spurs won five NBA Championships over the course of 15 years, the first being in 1999 with a rookie Tim Duncan, and the most recent being in 2014 when Kawhi Leanard won Finals MVP after taking down the LeBron James led Miami Heat.

The Spurs won with a mix of veteran and young talent, similar to this year’s Warriors team. They also had at least a two year hiatus between each of their championship victories.

Golden State has a chance to become the “New Age Spurs” by winning their fourth title in a seven-year span, doing it with multiple Hall Of Fame caliber players alongside promising young talent, and with a proven head coach in a patented system.
