The Golden State Warriors have used their new death lineup sparsely but the five-man group of Jordan Poole, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green might enter the starting lineup for Game 5.

As reported by Shams Charania, the Warriors are considering this group for the opening of their Game 5 matchup with the Denver Nuggets. It would be the first time ever these five players started alongside each other.

The death lineup might get an early opportunity to leave their mark as the Golden State Warriors look to finish the Denver Nuggets in Game 5.

The group has only played 32 minutes together in the playoffs. Steve Kerr has mostly opted to stagger his three guards rather than dumping all of his chips into the pot. This has been especially useful given Curry’s recent minutes’ restriction which has now come to an end after weeks of nurturing an ankle injury.

Even so, the trio has been the most effective unit for the Warriors. Along with Wiggins and Green, the Splash Cousins(?) are a plus 26 against Denver, including dominant performances in the first three games to give Golden State a commanding 3-0 lead.

With the series heading back to the Bay for a Game 5, Kerr and the Dubs seem intent on bringing things to a swift conclusion. Packing up the Nuggets and securing a weekend of rest will do wonders for an aging team that has the task of playing a younger squad in the next round.

Golden State will draw either Minnesota or Memphis in round two, a challenge of old versus young that will serve as a worthy test for a team with championship aspirations.

At the core of it all will be this newly found death lineup. Can the three guards do enough defensively to keep them competitive? Or will they be so potent on offense that it won’t even matter? Game 5 against Denver could give us our first extended look at how realistic this trio actually is.
